Event organizer The Game Initiative has announced the list of speakers currently scheduled for the second annual Austin Game Conference: the Game Writers Conference, which will take place for two days this September 6 and 7, 2006 in Austin, Texas. Particularly interesting scheduled speaker presentations for the event include famed game designer Al Lowe, who, along with Psychonauts writer Erik Wolpaw and Destroy All Humans! writer and designer Tom Abernathy, will offer a presentation titled 'Writing Comedy for Games'. In addition, God of War writer Marianne Krawczyk will partner with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion casting director Dawn Hershey, Metal Gear Solid voice actress Debi Mae West (Meryl), Chronicles of Riddick writer Flint Dille, and Thief : Deadly Shadows voice actor Ryan Wickerham to present a discussion titled 'Inside the Voice Actor's Studio: Writing Dialogue for Actors'. Additional speakers scheduled to take part in the conference include Ubisoft's Alexis Nolent and Richard Dansky, Obsidian's Chris Avellone, Midway's Harvey Smith, Microsoft Game Studios' John Sutherland and Matt Whiting, BioWare's Mac Walters and Mike Laidlaw, Hidden Path Entertainment's Mark Terrano, Media Sunshine's Rafael Chandler, Merlin-Works' Shana Merlin, and Quantum Content's Wendy Despain. The Game Writers Conference will operate concurrently with the Austin Game Conference, Game Audio Conference, and the Casual Games Conference, all co-located in the Austin Convention Center. The Women's Game Conference, previously part of the overall Conference, is no longer being held this year.
