Online voice services provider Vivox announced an agreement with 38 Studios to provide its voice technology to developer 38 Studios, a new developer and publisher founded by baseball pitcher Curt Schilling, for the company's upcoming PC MMORPG. Under the agreement's terms, Vivox will provide 38 Studios with real-time communication service, including support for live events, in- and out-of-game chat, game-to-mobile calling and SMS. The custom-tailored features will be packaged into a 38 Studios-branded version of the Vivox voice client and will be integrated into the game environment. Founded in 2006 by Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, 38 Studios is in pre-production on an original fantasy IP based on concepts by R. A. Salvatore and Todd McFarlane. Its upcoming products will include an MMORPG, novels, comics, toys, movies, TV, and more. The developer-publisher has also licensed BigWorld Technology Suite and NaturalMotion's morpheme animation engine for the forthcoming title. “38 Studios has quickly established itself as a creative heavyweight in the development community and we believe the innovative use of voice further extends that creativity throughout the entertainment experience,” says Vivox CEO Rob Seaver. “By choosing Vivox and designing with voice chat in mind, 38 Studios will be equipped with a powerful tool for providing the players with the best possible experience and strengthening community and social relationships.”
