The National Academy of Video Game Testers and Reviewers Corp. has announced the nominees for its fifth annual game awards. The awards recognize the best of the industry in terms of art, technology, and production, and are chosen by over 1,200 media critics. The 2006 awards feature 223 nominees in 48 categories. Game of the Year nominees in 2006 are Civilization IV, God of War, Psychonauts, Resident Evil 4, and Shadow of the Colossus. Two of the nominees, Psychonauts and God of War, have both set Navigatr records for most award nominations, coming in at 14 each. Other notable categories unique to the Navigatr awards include Costume Design (Devil May Cry 3, Genji: Dawn of the Samurai, Jade Empire, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones); Supporting Performance in a Comedy (a five-way nomination entirely drawn from the Psychonauts voice cast); and Control Precision (Gran Turismo 4, Guitar Hero, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, Resident Evil 4, and We Love Katamari). The winners of the Navigatr awards will be announced on March 31st, 2006. The full list of all categories and nominees is available online.
