Many gaming industry executives and education experts will be on hand at the second annual Game Education Summit, to be held at Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center between June 16th and 17th. The summit highlights university programs aimed at training students for a future in the video games industry. This year's conference features seven presentation tracks consisting of course overviews, speeches, and discussion sessions. Panels will focus on topics such as tool development, narrative writing, and the creation of serious game applications for government and health care training. Game education experts speaking at the Game Education Summit include Savannah College of Art & Design professor Brenda Brathwaite, Singapore-MIT Gambit Game Lab communications director Geoffrey Long, and PET Lab, Parsons director Colleen Macklin. Industry executives from Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Sony, THQ, Blizzard Entertainment, Divide by Zero Games and Obsidian will also attend the conference. "Across the country, universities are investing heavily to build curriculum to teach the game designers of tomorrow," said Game Education Summit director Mark Chuberka. "But game instruction is still a relatively new field. This conference brings instructors together with industry professionals to talk about what skills students need and to hear the top instructors discuss teaching methods and cutting edge theory." Early registration for the Game Education Summit is now open at the conference's website.
