Organizers for the Games Convention Developers Conference (GCDC) have announced that Acclaim Games CEO and co-founder David Perry will deliver a keynote on the second day of the Leipzig, Germany event, in which he will discuss his vision of the future of games and the progress of the world market. Recently awarded the first ever Masters Degree in Interactive Development and a Doctorate from Queens University, Perry has worked in the video game industry for 27 users creating games based on brands such as The Terminator, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Matrix. He now focuses on developing MMO, social network, and mass-market casual titles at Acclaim games. His current projects are all based on the free-to-play business model, relying on in-game advertisements and micro-transactions for virtual items to keep games profitable. The Games Convention Developers Conference is scheduled to take place from August 18th to August 20th and will host over 100 speakers from North America, Europe, the Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East. Topics planned for the event include online games, casual games, server technologies, and new approaches to game design in the fields of development, business, mobile, and science. Said GCDC project director Frank Sliwka: “David Perry has helped shape the history of video gaming having worked on some of the industry's best selling titles over the past few decades. His keynote is definitely going to be one of the big highlights of this year's GCDC and we look forward to hearing his perspective on the global games market.”
