Publisher Activision has announced that it will be bringing a Little League licensed baseball title to the Wii and DS with Little League World Series 2008, with each version using the platform's unique control methods for batting, pitching and fielding. Due for release on August 5th, Activision notes that the game is the "first officially licensed Little League video game to hit next-generation consoles," and will let players make their way from "local sandlot slugger to Little League World Series Champion." Activision says the game will feature eight U.S. and eight international teams, character customization, World Series Mode, and other skill based challenges. The Wii version is set to include the requisite motion-sensing controls, and the DS version will let players "get on the diamond anywhere." Said Activision's Dave Oxford, “Little League baseball fans, players and families simply haven’t had a video game made just for them, so our goal is to fill this niche. Creating this game with the Little League organization has been a pleasure and we look forward to paying homage to the three million Little League players around the world today.”
