Activision and Ubisoft have announced they will be offering free downloadable content for recent releases including DJ Hero 2, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Free track packs for Activision's recently released rhythm games are being made available through November 29 as part of a marketing deal with Coca-Cola. Players can go to the official My Coke Rewards web site to redeem codes for a free three-song Tiesto Mix Pack for DJ Hero 2 or a free four-track My Chemical Romance pack for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. Both track will be sold as normal starting on Tuesday, November 30. Ubisoft, meanwhile, announced today that the Animus Project Update 1.0 DLC for the recently released Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will be available for free starting December 14. The DLC will include a new, more difficult version of the game's online Alliance mode, the company said, as well as a new in-game map. “We wanted to say thank you to our fans for making Brotherhood such a huge success its opening week," said Ubisoft Montreal Executive Producer Sebastien Puel. "We are very proud of the unique and innovative multiplayer mode it offers, and hope the fans enjoy the new content.” Paid downloadable content has become an increasingly popular way for publishers to draw additional revenue after the initial sale of many boxed retail games. A Gamasutra estimate shows approximately 13 percent of all revenues associated with Activision's Call of Duty: World at War came from paid downloadable content.
