Activison’s Third Quarter Exceeds Estimates

Though income was down from last year, Activision’s third quarter profits still managed to beat analyst predictions by 10 cents per share.

The company reported income of $20.5 million on revenues of $264.5 million in the third quarter, slightly down from last year’s third quarter result of $22.3 million in income on $268.9 million in revenue. The encouraging results have led Activision to increase it full-year earnings predictions by nine percent to $48 million. “Sony's shortfall of Playstation 2 systems has had no impact on our business model,” said Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, “Our conservative planning assumptions were based on having approximately 1 to 1.5 million systems available in the U.S. during the holiday season.”
