Adobe is now shipping After Effects 5.5, its motion graphics and visual effects software. Among the changes to the product are new native support for Mac OS X and Windows XP, and Pentium 4 optimizations. Version 5.5 features Real media output, 3D camera data import from Maya and 3ds Max and additional 16-bit per channel color file support including Maya IFF, RPF and QuickTime. Other additions to the product include: • Colored shadows and projection layers • Adjustment lights • High-quality layer intersections with the advanced 3D renderer • Multiple comp views • New masking enhancements • Expressions enhancements • Eight powerful new effects After Effects 5.5 is available at an estimated street price of US $649 for the Standard version and US $1499 for the Production Bundle version in the United States and Canada.
