The Alhondiga Bilbao Culture and Leisure Center in Vizcaya, Spain, announced that it is now accepting entries for the "ho PLAY International Videogame Contest," a competition honoring innovative and educational video game projects. Backed by the BBK, Fundacion Euskaltel, EITB, Lan Ekintza Bilbao, and Marca Player, the contest "seeks to present and promote videogame productions that stand out for their originality, creativeness and innovation, and for values associated with AlhondigaBilbao." The contest is open to all individuals, studios, and firms owning the rights to an original game that meets the contest's entry criteria. Game submissions must have been created after January 1st, 2009, and must be in a playable state for personal computers, game consoles, or mobile phones. Cash prizes of €6000 will be awarded to the top entries in each of the following categories: Best Original Idea, Best Creative Design, Best Sound/Music, Best Playability, Special Audience Prize, and Best Basque Video Game. Chosen winners will be honored at a gala event to be held at the Alhondiga Bilbao Culture and Leisure Center from September 22nd through 25th, 2010. The deadline for admission is July 31st, 2010. Finalist entries will be announced on August 31st, 2010.
