"Sensory surround" technology maker AmBX released a free software development kit though its new developer program. The downloadable SDK provides test tools and example applications designed to help developers enhance their games with AmBX effects. The SDK has been available prior to now on a project-by-project basis, but it'll now be available to the developer community free of charge via the firm's website. The technology enables content creators to add real world effects using light, color, rumble, and air flow through AmBX devices. With the developer program, AmBX hopes that more software and hardware companies will be able to add the technology to their products. The program includes the launch of a support forum that will provide advice, best practice information, and a complete toolbox for AmBX's more advanced features. "The AmBX SDK provides developers with everything they need to get quickly up to speed and at no charge,” says CEO Neil MacDonald. “It makes AmBX very approachable, and this is a major step forward in game development. He continues, "The whole point of AmBX is to immerse the player deeper into the game and the AmBX SDK now allows developers to harness and control the most powerful immersion experience available in their games. The SDK makes a rather complex operation very simple at extremely low cost."
