Robertson offered a bounty of $200,000 last July to anyone who could get an Xbox to run Linux. The challenge lured a number of groups, some of which were partially successful -- but nobody was able to accomplish the task by the December 31 deadline. As such, Robertson extended the contest deadline for another year. Lindows.com developed and sells LindowsOS, an operating system based on Linux which features the look and feel of Windows, supports Windows file types, and runs certain Windows-compatible programs. The company is embroiled in a lawsuit in Federal District Court in Seattle, trying to get Microsoft's trademark on Windows invalidated. In turn, Microsoft accused Lindows.com of trademark infringement.
