Apple said Monday that it sold over 300,000 iPads in the U.S. during the device's release day on Saturday, April 3. The company also said iPad users have downloaded 1 million apps and 250,000 eBooks from its iBookstore on day one. The strong numbers are good news for the many game developers that collectively released hundreds of iPad games on launch day. "It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world—it’s going to be a game changer,” said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. "iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad." Apple's sales figures include deliveries of pre-ordered iPads to customers, deliveries to Apple's retail channel partners and sales at Apple Retail Stores. So far, Apple has only released the wi-fi only version of the iPad. The 3G-plus-wi-fi version is slated to land at retailers later this month.
