Officials from Atari have confirmed that forthcoming survival horror title Alone in the Dark will launch on Wii and PlayStation 2, as well as the previously announced Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions - although no release date has been confirmed for the franchise reboot. The fifth entry in the Alone in the Dark series, the original edition of which was a major influence on Capcom’s Resident Evil, has received positive advance press, but a final release date has yet to be officially announced. The original Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions are being developed by Infogrames-owned Eden Games, creators of Test Drive Unlimited. The Wii and PlayStation 2 versions, however, will be developed by Hydravision, the French developer best known for the Obscure survival horror series. "Realizing the enormous ambition of Alone in the Dark is a huge technological challenge," said Hudson Piehl, vice president of production at Atari. "Hydravision has risen to the occasion to ensure Wii and PlayStation 2 owners will be impressed by the gripping gameplay experience."
