ATI Technologies has rolled out the Mobility Radeon, what it says is the highest performance, most feature-rich mobile graphics processor in the world. Mobility Radeon introduces ATI's Radeon 3D graphics processor technology to the portable computing marketplace, bringing lower power consumption and features such as user-friendly dual display capability and multimedia benefits drawn from ATI's All-In-Wonder family of products. Continuing ATI's tradition of developing multiple versions of its mobile graphics chip products, Mobility Radeon is available in four models with flexible memory support. Mobility Radeon also includes ATI's MCM (Multi-Chip Module) technology. Mobility Radeon's advances include ATI's Hyper-Z compression hardware technology, which improves performance by boosting effective memory bandwidth by more than 20 per cent; Pixel Tapestry architecture, a highly-optimized 32-bit color rendering engine that supports three-way multi-texturing and new 3D effects; Dual DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) for independent, multi-monitor support at maximum resolutions; and Video Immersion, which provides video playback with adaptive de-interlacing, processing of full-frame rate, full-screen DVD and integrated motion compensation. The Mobility Radeon can be used with ATI's recently announced TV Wonder USB Edition external tuner, allowing the chip to perform all the tasks a desktop computer can, including video editing, display TV viewing windows, running the latest video power games, and operating smooth DVD replay. It supports resolutions up to QXGA (Quad Extended Graphics Array) standard (2048 X 1536 pixels).
