Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
IndieGames.com: The Weblog co-editor Tim W. overviews the top free-to-download and commercial indie games from the last week including a reimagination of id Software's Doom 3 as a top-down shooter.
The delights in this edition include a psychedelic adventure game set in a sleazy bar, an out-of-season browser game for the winter holidays, a clever maze game that'll perplex players quite a bit, and a reimagination of id Software's Doom 3 as a top-down shooter. Here's the highlights from the last seven days: Game Pick: 'Snakes of Avalon' (Alex van der Wijst and Igor Hardy, freeware) "Snakes of Avalon is a dark point-and-click adventure game about a drunk man in a bar. It's all a bit surreal and features special potions and talking posters. There is lots of talk of murder and the like, and you'll be trying to stop it in between the drinking." Game Pick: 'Garden Gnome Carnage' (Daniel Remar, browser) "The objective of Garden Gnome Carnage is to prevent elves from reaching the top of the building and sliding down your unprotected chimney hole, since the game is over when you're too overwhelmed to prevent that from happening." Game Pick: 'Feign' (Ian Snyder, browser) "Feign: (pictured) is a clever maze game that is similar to Mike Inel's Where and Hazard: The Journey of Life, in which players are instructed to find the nine missing people who have hid themselves inside a network of rooms and corridors." Game Pick: 'MooD: Waist-High in Hell' (Benjamin Braden, freeware) "MooD: Waist-High in Hell is a top-down shooter that features enemies from the Doom 3 universe, redrawn by Amon26 as minute but recognisable 2D sprites for the players to shoot at." Game Pick: 'Graveyard Graveyard Revolution' (Terry Cavanagh, browser) "Created in 2 hours for Klik of the Month, Graveyard Graveyard Revolution is a mashup of Tale of Tales' The Graveyard and the popular Dance Dance Revolution games. Ever wanted to dance on someone's grave? Now you can."
