[IndieGames.com: The Weblog co-editor Tim W. sums up some of the top free-to-download and commercial indie games from the last seven days on his sister 'state of indie' weblog.] This week on 'Best Of Indie Games', we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week. The goodies in this edition include a ZX Spectrum-style game, a procedural-generated 2D platformer, a remake of Action 52 game, and new release from Flywrench creator Mark Essen. Here's the highlights from the last seven days: Game Pick: 'L'Abbaye des Morts' (Locomalito, freeware) "In L'Abbaye des Morts (The Abbey of the Dead, pictured) you play as Jean Raymond, a preacher who escapes to an abandoned church after being chased by a group of crusaders. Following the instructions on parchments left behind by past occupants of the building, Jean must seek out and collect the twelve cathar crosses before he can escape from his pursuers." Game Pick: 'Mayflight' (John Harris, freeware) "Mayflight follows a fairy named Aurora, whose lifespan is a mere ten seconds. Fortunately, there are sparks placed around the randomly-generated areas of the world that will increase her time by a couple of seconds. The catch is that the world is infinite and goes forever, but as you travel further from the starting point, there are fewer sparks to collect." Game Pick: 'Sombreros' (Dustin Gunn, freeware) "In Sombreros you play as a Mexican gunslinger who has to retrieve a couple of giant hats from the bad guys. Ammo is unlimited in the game, and you can also call upon your sombrero power to pause time and mark enemies for a round of quick fire shots." Game Pick: 'Turbo Turbo Turbo' (Mark Essen, browser) "You're an unnamed race car driver who has to place first in every race using any means necessary, which includes shoving or boosting into other racers to make them crash out of the competition. If your vehicle is wrecked in an accident, your mentor offers you a chance to redeem yourself by sneaking into the winner's after party to start a bar fight." Game Pick: 'Swarmation' (Stefano Attardi, Zach Bialecki and David Miranda, browser) "In Swarmation you're presented with a grid on which you represent a single pixel. Every other player who is connected at the same time as you is also a pixel. A box to the right says what shape you need to make, and then you've got ten seconds to quickly shuffle into place with other players and recreate the shape."
