Following the release of NPD Group data for console sales in the U.S. during November, similar data has now been made available for Canada – with combined Xbox 360 hardware and software sales accounting for more than $21 million of revenue. All launch stock of the console was sold out, accounting for 32,100 units, compared to approximately 326,000 in the U.S. Although limited stock prevented the U.S. launch from breaking records, the Canadian debut managed to best the 28,000 launch units sold for the Nintendo DS and the 31,500 for the PSP. Unlike the U.S., no Xbox 360 title made it into the top ten in the overall charts, with the highest ranked game being Activision’s Call Of Duty 2 at number eleven. This was followed by Microsoft’s Project Gotham Racing 3 at number fourteen and Perfect Dark Zero at number twenty. As in the U.S. the top selling game of the month was Star Wars: Battlefront II, although in this case the PlayStation 2 version – with the Xbox version at number two. THQ’s PlayStation 2 exclusive WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2006 was at number three with the PlayStation 2 version of NHL 06 at number four and GameCube sequel Mario Party 7 at number five. Nintendo’s online enabled Mario Kart DS was ranked number six, ahead of the PlayStation 2 version of Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Sony exclusive Ratchet: Deadlocked. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories was the highest ranked PSP title at number nine, with the Xbox version of NHL 06 rounding out the top ten.
