Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto has indicated that the company is currently in talks with Hollywood studios to jointly produce new films based on its games, following the success of the Resident Evil trilogy of movies. “We are in the process of working out contracts for several offers we received at the Cannes Film Festival last week and hope to make an announcement soon," said Tsujimoto in a Bloomberg Television interview. Tsujimoto failed to provide any details of the plans or which franchises they would involve, although the Bloomberg report of the interview specifically mentions Devil May Cry. A planned movie version of Onimusha, by Silent Hill director Christophe Gans, has not yet progressed into full production. However, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li starring Kristin Kreuk is scheduled for a 2009 release. Tsujimoto indicates that the success of the $40 million film, which is jointly funded and produced with 20th Century Fox, will have a major influence on the company’s future movie projects. “We want to do with games what Marvel did with comics,” stated Tsujimoto.
