The Child's Play charity, now in its fifth year, has announced that its latest charity dinner auction raised more than $225,000 over nearly 20 separate auctions, which will go to its network of some 45 worldwide hospitals. Child's Play says that among the evening's auction highlights were an official "UNSC-branded duffel bag loaded with rare Halo merchandise, which was enhanced with Bungie Studio's Frank O'Connor took the stage to add a set of in-game armor normally only available for Bungie employees. The full set went for $5,800. A lot of Valve's Orange Box merchandise went for $2,500 when at the last moment, a plush Weighted Companion Cube and tour of Valve offices was added to the auction. The group also says an "impromptu auction was attempted on Penny Arcade writer Jerry Holkins' pants." As no total was given, the auction apparently ended without a successful bid. The total raised at the dinner beat last year's $210,000 record. Combined with the dinner auction, the group has thus far raised more than $850,000, which it says puts last year million dollar total "within reach," as the drive will continue through December 31st.
