CMP Technology's Game Developers Conference (GDC) today unveiled plans for PC Game On, the only consumer-facing PC games event of its kind. Unlike other consumer events which focus primarily on consoles, PC Game On gives PC gaming the full spotlight with cross-publisher, hardware, and software company support. The event takes place September 8-9 at the Austin Convention Center, directly following the Austin Game Developers Conference and Game Career Seminar. Produced in association with founding sponsors Alienware and Dell, PC Game On features new and pre-release PC games, GDC-quality conference content and tournaments. The event will deliver a showcase and forum for PC gaming enthusiasts providing hands on interaction with top PC titles from developers and publishers across the industry. It will also serve to highlight PC gaming's outstanding technical achievements in visual design, AI programming and physics. “PC Game On celebrates PC gaming as the crucible of innovation in the industry, the place where most game developers get their start, and the driver of digital distribution, MMOs, and virtual worlds” said Katherine Schoback, Group Director, CMP Game Group. “Considering media attention of late has focused solely on console wars, PC deserves its place in the sun." “There is incredible innovation happening in the PC gaming industry, including great technology enhancements on Dell XPS and Alienware systems, as well as unbelievable advances in game development,” said Susan Kittleson, Director of Games Marketing, Dell. “To be able to provide the attendees real-time access to high performance gaming rigs and the hottest PC games is an exciting challenge that will underscore the commitment that is building in the digital gaming industry, and in particular PC gaming.” PC Game On is the first consumer show to be produced by the Game Developers Conference, which is known not only for its editorial products which include Game Developer Magazine and the Webby Award-winning Gamasutra.com, but for its leading game industry events including the Game Developers Conference, the Hollywood and Games Summit, the Serious Games Summit, GDC Mobile, GDC China, and the Independent Games Festival. PC Game On takes place the weekend following the group’s Austin Game Developers Conference which, built off of the Austin Game Conference acquired by CMP in October 2006, will focus on Game Audio, Writing for Games, and Online Games including casual games, MMOs, and virtual worlds. PC Game On will take place in ballrooms A-C of the Austin Convention Center, Saturday and Sunday, September 8-9, from 12:00pm – 5:00pm. Admission is $30 at the door, and $25 in advance of the event. Exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, please visit www.PCGameOn.com.
