Crysis developer Crytek has founded a new subsidiary company in Seoul, South Korea, with operations already underway at the new offices. The new studio is led by industry veteran Young Mok Park and is intended to expand Crytek’s business into the Asian markets, in particular the company’s middleware licensing business. As such the studio has a dedicated engine support team for existing and new partners in the region. "Establishing an office in Seoul was the logical step to expand our business in Korea as well as giving our engine licensees in this region the best possible support, through direct access to a dedicated local team," said Faruk Yerli, managing director of Crytek. "Crytek’s Korean office will take a key role in increasing the quality of service to CryENGINE clients. By establishing the Korean office, Crytek has shown its commitment and strong interest in Korean game companies as well as the Korean gaming industry," added Park. With the company’s main headquarters still in Frankfurt, Germany, Crytek also operates additional studios in Kiev, Ukraine; Budapest, Hungary; and Sofia, Bulgaria. The developer originally came to fame with the original Far Cry, but following the release of Crysis Warhead earlier in the year its next projects have yet to be announced.
