Officials from the newly opened Koch Media subsidiary Deep Silver have officially announced that the company will be physically publishing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky in North America, the prequel to GSC Game World's cult hit PC game released last year by THQ. Deep Silver recently announced the opening of its U.S. offices, after some five years of operation in Europe, where it has published nearly 60 titles including the Anno 1701 strategy series. First announced at the 2007 E3, GCS Game World says the game takes place one year prior to the events of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R., as players take on the role of a mercenary who plays a key role in the events which lead to creation of the Zone seen in the original. In January, Steam operators Valve announced that the game would be released as a Steam digital exclusive, simultaneous with its retail release. Said Deep Silver sales and marketing VP Cathy Tische, "The buzz surrounding this game is phenomenal. We're excited to let people know that it'll be available here at the same time as the rest of the world."
