Weekly hardware sales in Japan continue to run extremely close, with the Wii still ahead of the pack but the PSP outselling the Nintendo DS for the second week in a row. In fact, as Wii sales fell by almost 13,000 units to 81,737, sales for the PSP rose by over 3,000 units to 75,912. Buoyed by the release of Namco Bandai’s latest Mobile Suit Gundam title, currently at number two in the software charts, the PSP was the only major format to see an increase in sales this week - although the format had only three other titles in the top fifty. Despite accounting for fully 50 percent of the software top fifty, Nintendo DS hardware sales fell by 7,000 units to a new recent low of 60,464. Following the release of Devil May Cry 4 last week, PlayStation 3 sales fell by almost 18,000 units to 23,985 for the week. PlayStation 2 sales were down by around 1,000 units, while the Xbox 360 saw sales drop by around 2,500 units to 3,615 in the aftermath of Devil May Cry 4’s release.
