Publisher Electronic Arts has announced that Fountainhead Entertainment will be porting id Software's award winning mobile RPG Orcs & Elves to the Nintendo DS, promising more levels, items and monsters than the mobile original. id's John Carmack hinted at the possibility of bringing the game to the DS in January, saying that while id has "kept [Nintendo] at arm's length for many console generations now," the developer was interested in "moving over and enhancing the cell phone game" to the DS. EA says the DS version of the game will feature "higher graphical fidelity, more levels, items and monsters as players explore a massive Dwarven kingdom riddled with ancient treasures and fierce enemies," merging "the best of first-person action and fast-paced tactical RPG gameplay." Said Carmack in a statement, "Orcs & Elves was a perfect fit for the DS. We were able to take excellent advantage of the 3D hardware and unique user input capabilities, and expand the game to include a lot of wonderful features that we just couldn't fit on the cell phones."
