Eidos Life President Ian Livingstone Granted British Inspiration Award

Longtime Eidos executive Ian Livingstone has been granted the inaugural British Inspiration Award in the video game category, beating out fellow British game luminaries Sam Houser, Richard Darling, and David Darling. Livingstone first came to prominence when he co-founded Games Workshop, a tabletop gaming company that now licenses numerous video games, in 1975. He later worked for video game publisher Domark, which became Eidos Interactive, and has served at Eidos' various parent companies ever since. Upon Square Enix's acquisition of the company, Livingstone was promoted to the unusual role of "life president." In 2006, Livingstone was awarded the Order of the British Empire for his contributions to the British game industry. The Inspiration Awards, intended to highlight the cream of the United Kingdom's creative crop, are the creation of David Yarnton, the general manager of Nintendo UK. In addition to game industry figures, they honor notables in the fields of film, television, music, fashion, the arts, design, science and technology, and innovation, enterprise and industry. The other nominees for the video game award were Rockstar Games co-founder Sam Houser and brothers Richard and David Darling, co-founders of Codemasters.
