Epic Games has paid $1.57 million for five new acres adjacent to its Cary, North Carolina headquarters, planning to double its campus space to accommodate more testing staff, as the company furthers its two-year plan for growth.
Epic Games recently paid $1.57 million for five new acres adjacent to its 31,000-square-foot headquarters in Cary, North Carolina, planning to at least double its campus space. "We've pretty much run out of space here," Epic vice president Mark Rein told the regional News Observer, which reports that the additional space will be used for testers employed by Epic's publishers. Rein also told the newspaper he expects the company to continue expanding, hiring about one employee each month for the next two years at least. According to the News Observer, Epic testers have been working in rented offices in the same corporate park, but having them next door would be much more convenient. Said Rein, "The feedback loop is better. We can sit in a room and say, 'Hey, here's a bug I saw. Can you recreate this and tell me what you think is causing it?' They're constantly playing through the game and testing every little level, and it takes a lot of people to test a game properly."
