Epic Games China, a Shanghai-based outsourcing division of Epic Games, announced the launch of Titan Studios, a new developer located in Seattle and committed to creating original titles. Comprised of senior developers from Blizzard, Ubisoft, Scion, Epic, and Lionhead, Titan Studios' core team previously operated as Darkstar Industries and most recently unveiled Fat Princess, a PlayStation Network-exclusive game slated for 2009. Epic Games China formed the new developer with the intention of producing titles that incorporate "exceptional production values" along with core technologies that extend the functionality of Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3, and also provide additional time zone support to partners using Epic Games China's outsourcing services. Titan Studios is currently helping on several unannounced Unreal Engine 3-based projects, including a massively multiplayer online game. "Titan Studios offers a way for intellectual property owners to leverage Unreal Engine 3 and Epic Games China's full suite of game development services," says Epic Games vice president Jay Wilbur. "Not only are Titan developing award-winning, original IP of their own, they also have resources available to help other studios increase productivity and minimize risk."
