The Paddington Academy, a new UK-based school built through funds provided by the UK's Entertainment Software Charity, will hold an open house on Thursday, December 14, according to an official announcement. The Entertainment Software Charity (ESC) is a not-for-profit organization created with the intent of using the games industry to give back to the less fortunate, particularly young students. The West London all-ability inclusive school, which is due to officially open in September 2006 and will be run and managed by the United Learning Trust, was built with the help of a £1.5 million ($2.6 million USD) donation from the ESC. "The games industry is helping to create a brilliant new learning centre for inner city children and this is a great opportunity to see the practical results of its support," said ESC CEO Mark Strachan. Academy principal Barbi Goulding will be present to welcome guests and issue a tour of the facilities at 9:30 a.m. on the day of the opening. Those wishing to attend are asked to make reservations through Mark Strachan in advance via email.
