ESPN Moves Into Online Gaming, Seeks Talent

ESPN 360, the cable sports network’s proprietary broadband service, and ESPN.com are branching out into new video gaming-related areas, and are seeking online-only game developers to create games for ESPN’s various online arms. Any sport that’s aired on ESPN -- a list which includes baseball, football, skateboarding, fishing, poker, or others -- is fair game for the network’s slate of online games. Developers currently creating online-only games dealing with any of those games can meet with ESPN at the Game Developer Convention in San Francisco from March 9-11 to show their work so far. ESPN is hoping for games at or past the alpha milestone, preferably with online multiplayer components of some kind to meet the "competition and community" espoused by the network. Games selected by ESPN could receive co-funding to complete the project, as well as marketing and distribution to highlight the game on ESPN’s online divisions.
