eyeon Software has announced the release of Digital Fusion DFX+, a unique modular offering for effects and image processing. Based on the new architecture of Digital Fusion 3, eyeon says DFX+ shows a clear understanding of special effects methodologies, and includes eyeon's industry file format and hardware support. DFX+ has the add-on capability of a variety of modules. Each system can also be upgraded to the full version of Digital Fusion or DFHD. Features of this system include collapsible/expandable tool grouping, PSD importing and layout, a new character generator called Text +, sub flow tool caching, and superior Anti-Aliasing. DFX+ has five initial modules. Module 1 controls visual effects such as controls tracking, stabilizing, rotoscoping, connections, together with calculations and expressions. Module 2 controls keying with an ultra keyer, difference keyer, color corrector, corner positioner and perspective positioner. Module 3 allows for I/O batch capture video and SCSI tape I/O. Module 4 consists of 3D depth tools, Zbuffer, depth of field, Z merge, texture and shade. Module 5 allows for rendering over a distributed network with network render manager and render node. Digital Fusion DFX+ for Windows NT has a starting price of $995, with the modules priced at $295 and up.
