Mobile analytics firm Flurry announced today it has raised $15 million in Series C venture funding to continue its analysis and work on its AppCircle game recommendation platform. The funding, which is led by new partner Menlo Ventures and includes participation from existing investors, will be put towards sales and marketing for the company, as well as new advertising-focused services for app developers, according to a statement. Menlo Venture's Sonja Hoel Perkins, who recently joined the Flurry board of directors, stated that Flurry aims "to help mobile app developers solve critical audience segmentation, distribution and monetization challenges." In November, Flurry analyzed anonymous usage data from over 5 billion sessions across 100 million unique device running some of the 60,000 iOS, Android and Blackberry and J2E applications using their platform. In October, that kind of data showed revenue from virtual good sales for mobile apps exploding to represent roughly 80 percent of the total revenue from such apps. In addition, the company's AppCircle recommendation engine points users to related apps through small, pop-up advertisements in games like PlayFirst's Cooking Dash.
