Cloud-based game streaming service Gaikai has a new chief strategy officer in former Jamdat Mobile and Electronic Arts exec Nanea Reeves, an appointment the company says will help it create its approach to its consumers. Reeves was senior VP and chief operating officer of EA's Global Online group, and prior to that, she was a senior VP at Jamdat. "I’m really excited to have Nanea on board," says Gaikai CEO Dave Perry. "Her experience will help us determine our next moves as we grow our service,” said David Perry, CEO of Gaikai Inc. Earlier this month, the Gaikai service welcomed 11,000 users into its open beta, with BioWare's Mass Effect 2 as its launch title. The company has a partnership with EA that'll allow games like Medal of Honor and The Sims to stream to users over the service. Gaikai’s business model allows users to try games by clicking on web advertisements that will launch the game within the browser itself, without installing a client or downloading additional software. All the game's rendering is done remotely in a server cloud and then streamed to the user, so performance is hardware-independent.
