Reuters is reporting that Nintendo has announced a $199 U.S. launch price for Gamecube.
The report cited statements made by a Nintendo Co. Ltd. spokesman, who also revealed that Gamecube software would be priced at $49.90. Gamecube's announced pricetag is $100 less than the $299 price announced for Microsoft's Xbox at E3 last week. The two consoles are currently scheduled to launch within days of each other in early November in the U.S. Gamecube's Japan debut is still scheduled for mid-September.
