Gameloft, a major mobile phone game publisher and former part of Ubisoft, has released its financial results for fiscal year 2004. The company's operating profit has doubled to 2.4 million euros ($3.18 million USD), giving Gameloft a 10.2% operating margin. The net profit, however, went down from the 2003 fiscal year, closing at 1.9 million euros ($2.52 million USD). Over the course of the fiscal year, Gameloft increased the size of its staff from 248 employees to almost 750, nearly tripling the size of the company. The team worked on high-profile games such as the mobile versions of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. Some of the new talent will go toward developing the mobile War of the Worlds game, which Gameloft recently signed a deal with Paramount to produce. The game will be based on the summer 2005 Steven Spielberg movie, which stars Tom Cruise and Tim Robbins. The game is one of over 20 that Gameloft intends to publish in 2005.
