The organizers of Leipzig, Germany's Games Convention Online -- formerly known simply as Games Convention -- have announced that next year's event will take place from July 8 to July 11, 2010. It will be the second year of the expo's current incarnation, which focuses exclusively on online, browser-based, and mobile gaming. The show received its purview after its predecessor was cancelled this past January, following a battle with rival German gaming expo GamesCom. The 2010 event adds an extra day over 2009's show, with trade and press attendees having access to the business center from Thursday, July 8 to Saturday, July 10, overlapping with the general public access period which takes place from Friday, July 9 to Sunday, July 11. "This is our response to the specific request of the industry which at the launch event had to deal with a large number of business talks in the shortest possible time," said global strategy director Silvana Kurschner. "The extra day is intended to give business customers more scope and time to initiate and conclude business deals and for their business matching and networking activities." According to a statement by the organizers, the 40,000 square meter event hosted 43,000 attendees.
