Today's round-up includes information on an update for Gauntlet, as well a possible Xbox 2 launch title from Sega. - Midway has released the first details on the new Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows, John Romero's first project since joining the company, and made in collaboration with noted Black Isle RPG designer J.E. Sawyer. Unlike the last two Gauntlet games released for consoles, Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows is planned to be an online title, with a four-player co-operative mode on both PlayStation 2 and Xbox Live. The classic warrior, valkyrie, wizard, and elf classes make their return, along with a host of more modern-day upgrades and new RPG-like additions to the series. The game is due out on PlayStation 2 and Xbox in winter 2005. - Sega has announced Condemned, a first-person horror game for PC and next-generation consoles, and to debut in winter 2005, which indicates that the initial 'next-generation console' may be the Xbox 2, though this is unconfirmed. Developed by Monolith Productions, which are now part of Warner Brothers Interactive, but are presumably completing projects contracted by outside parties before exclusively developing for WB, the game seems to differ from their similarly first-person horror game F.E.A.R. by way of being a more adventure-driven, rather than shooter-oriented title. The player controls an FBI agent who hunts serial killers, using forensic tools and combat training alike.
