Gaming News Round-Up: February 1st, 2005

Today's round-up includes news on the voice actors for EA's video game version of The Godfather, as well as a mysterious THQ mandatory disclosure involving the licensing of Nintendo IP. - Electronic Arts has announced the Hollywood talent brought in for its upcoming game based on The Godfather trilogy of films. Actors James Caan and Robert Duvall have agreed to use their voices and likenesses in the game, and it turns out that before his death, Marlon Brando had signed a similar deal with EA. Brando's voice work as Don Corleone was completed before the actor passed away, leaving no barrier to the legend's "appearance" in the game. Additionally, EA has secured the license to Nino Rota's film score to use in the game. - It seems that THQ may be joining the list of developers whom Nintendo has permitted to work on games featuring Nintendo's IP. Following games such as Flagship/Capcom's recent Zelda: The Minish Cap and Namco's upcoming Star Fox: Assault, THQ will create games based on unspecified Nintendo properties for the Nintendo DS. The deal, which lasts until Jan 25, 2008, includes a provision to allow Nintendo to veto THQ's use of their properties, in an effort to prevent past mistakes from rearing their head again.
