Today's round-up includes news of a special Namco classics pack for the PlayStation 2, as well as the welcome announcement of the 10th annual Quakecon. - According to online reports, Japanese magazine Famitsu Weekly has revealed that Namco is planning a Namco Collection for PlayStation 2 in Japan which includes classic early PlayStation 1 Namco titles such as Tekken, Ridge Racer, Ace Combat 2, Klonoa and Mr. Driller, all packaged together. The collection is due to debut this June in Japan, and follows on from the company's Namco Classics compilations of its vintage titles. However, it's not yet confirmed whether this new Namco Collection will make its way to the West. - The organizers of the LAN party/gaming festival QuakeCon, sponsored by Quake and Doom creators Id Software, have announced a benchmark tenth anniversary edition of the FPS gathering, to be held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, from August 11th to 14th. "QuakeCon’s 10th anniversary is a historic milestone... we're going to have the party of a decade, and we want everyone to be there", said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. Although the showcase game for the festival is unconfirmed, it seems likely that Quake IV, a significant way into development at Raven Software, may be publically showcased at the event. - Also updated on Gamasutra today (free reg. req.): a Sound Gallery from Jeff Tymoschuk (James Bond: Everything or Nothing, The Simpsons Hit And Run, The Hulk), as well as newly advertised jobs from Activision / Vicarious Visions, America's Army Government Applications, Planet Moon Studios, Swingin' Ape Studios, and more.
