The Georgia Institute of Technology will be hosting a Living Game Worlds symposium to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its Digital Media Degree program. The symposium will also honor Will Wright, whose work seems to have inspired the topic of the symposium: his games Sim City and The Sims were early applications of the "community, simulation and the future of entertainment" theme that the symposium will discuss. The Living Game World site lists a number of participants, including Wright himself, along with EA's Chief Creative Officer Bing Gordon, maverick thinker and game designer Chris Crawford, Executive Director of the Academy of Machinima Arts and Sciences Paul Marino, 'DemoScene' book author Lassi Tasajarvi, and many other participants, including Ian Bogost, Janet H. Murray, and others. The symposium will be held at the Biltmore Hotel in Atlanta on March 16th, and although the official site currently only features a splash page, more information is likely to appear next week.
