Google has announced a new physical independent games showcase in San Francisco this September, as it tries to interest indies in its Android and other platforms. Submissions are now open for the event, taking place at Terra Gallery on September 24.

As you'd expect, the festival will give devs the chance to get their game into the hands of players, network with fellow creatives, and win prizes including Tango devices, free tickets to Google I/O 2017, and Google ad campaign support.

For its maiden indie voyage, Google is encouraging developers to submit virtual and augmented reality titles that utilize the Google VR SDK and Tango Tablet Dev Kit.

Submissions will be accepted from now until August 14, and are open to U.S. and Canadian teams with no more than 15 full time staff members.

Only games that have been, or are due to be published in 2016 are eligible for entry. Successful submissions will be announced by the end of August.

Check out the Android Developers Blog for more information about the festival.
