Developer High Voltage (Harvey Birdman, Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude) has announced The Conduit, a new Wii-exclusive first person shooter with both a single player campaign and online multiplayer components, tentatively scheduled for release in Q1 of 2009. The studio says the game will utilize its proprietary Quantum 3 Game Engine technology which it says will "squarely establish the Wii as a true next-generation gaming platform" with "fast and fluid gameplay" and "an advanced set of visuals" including "dynamic environment mapping, interactive water with real-time reflection, and four-stage texture composition including gloss, diffuse, and bump mapping." High Voltage says players will take the role of Secret Service Agent Ford, mastering an extensive weapon set and the "All Seeing Eye" device to "defeat enemies, solve puzzles, and unravel the game's mysteries," with each action designed to take full advantage of the Wii's unique controls. No publishing agreement for the title has yet been solidified, but the developer says "publisher excitement and interest in The Conduit has been overwhelming." Said chief creative officer Eric Nofsinger, "Too many Wii owners have been told that the Wii is a casual platform with no room for serious games or top-tier graphics. With The Conduit, we intend to prove that theory wrong by providing gamers with the kind of title they imagined back when the platform was first announced."
