The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference announced that it is now accepting PC-based serious game entries for its Fifth Annual I/ITSEC Serious Games Showcase & Challenge. The yearly Serious Games Showcase & Challenge promotes innovative game-based training solutions in the military, industry, and academic fields. Finalist entries in each category, chosen by a panel of industry leaders, will be invited to showcase their creations at I/ITSEC 2010, where attendees will decide the winner of the competition's People's Choice award. Entries must address a student, government, or business training objective for audiences of High School age or older. Submitted entries will be judged in four primary areas: Use of Gaming Characteristics, Solution to a Stated Problem; Playability/Usability; and Technical Quality. The I/ITSEC notes that all submissions must "have gaming attributes, involve an assigned challenge, and employ some form of positive and/or negative reward system." The competition is open to hobbyists, students, and professionals 18 years of age and older. Contestants may submit their working, playable serious game entries at the event's official website. The deadline for entry is September 15th, 2010. Finalists will be notified in advance of the I/ITSEC 2010 event, to be held between November 29th and December 2nd in Orlando, Florida.
