The International Centre for Digital Content (ICDC), a part of Liverpool John Moores University in the UK, has reopened the application process for its MA Digital Games program. The MA Digital Games program, which began in 2000, takes the approach of an academic study of games. The course combines a theoretical and practical approach to teaching the art and design aspects of game development while embracing key issues related to production and project management. During the program, students are also exposed to theories of gameplay, and to the cultural and social issues surrounding video games to understand the ways in which games are viewed in a wider context. The program promises to prepare graduates for immediate employment in the games industry as 3D environment artists, level designers, texture artists, character designers, and animators. Additionally, the course encourages academic research into the area of gameplay and game development. For more information about ICDC’s program, visit their MA Digital Games website.
