Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
The International Game Developers Association has launched the nominations program for its upcoming awards, which will be given out at the Game Developers Conference in March.
The list of nominees is culled from submissions to the awards web site, at http://www.igda.org/awards/. The nomination period ends February 1, and nominations may only be made by professional game developers registered with the IGDA (there is no charge to register -- see the IGDA site for details). Any game which was initially released during 2001 is eligible. Expansion and mission packs are not eligible. The Game Developer Choice Awards include: -Lifetime Achievement Award -IGDA Award of Community Contribution -The First Penguin Award -Excellence in Audio -Excellence in Game Design -Excellence in Level Design -Excellence in Programming -Excellence in Visual Arts -Game of the Year -Game Innovation Spotlights -Original Game Character of the Year -The Rookie Studio Award The finalists will be announced on February 11th.
