Tony Garcia, who previously held senior positions at Microsoft Game Studios, Electronic Arts, and LucasArts, has joined engine developer Unity Technologies as director of business development. Unity CEO David Helgason said, "Unity is seeing increasing use in larger web-based games and MMOs. With Tony on-board we can increase our share of that business which is one of the major growth areas for the next few years." Garcia has over 20 years of experience in the games industry, Unity said. Unity Technologies' Unity game engine is compatible with iPhone, Mac, PC, and Wii. The company released Unity version 2.5 in March this year. The company claimed that Unity is "the fastest growing platform with at least one new Unity game appearing for iPhone on a daily basis." In 2008, Funcom and Cartoon Network said they would use Unity's game engine to develop casual web-based MMOs, although indie developers and students have also adopted the platform. Unity said that "Hundreds of commercial games have been developed with Unity."
