Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward said over the weekend that the PlayStation Network version of the $15 map expansion, Stimulus Package, broke PSN download records. Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling said on his Twitter account, "Thanks to the 1 Million-plus [PlayStation] users who helped the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package break day-one and week-one download records on PSN!" A Sony Computer Entertainment rep has not yet confirmed the milestone. The map pack arrived on PSN on May 4, following the March 30 Xbox 360 release. The PSN Stimulus Package announcement comes more than a month after Microsoft and Infinity Ward said that the add-on broke records when it released on Xbox Live with 1 million downloads on day one and 2.5 million for the opening week. Performance of the Stimulus Package led publisher Activision to raise its fiscal outlook in April.
