Today's release of iOS 4.1 brought with it the first availability of Apple's long-promised Game Center App, which provides platform-wide social gaming and networking functionality to many iPhone and iPod Touches. Though Game Center users can currently build a profile and connect with other friends using the service, as of this writing the App doesn't list any games that support Game Center's other functions, which include Leaderboards, Achievements, matchmaking and multiplayer gaming. Aurora Feint, the developer of existing iOS social gaming API OpenFeint, has worked to integrate its service with Apple's new Game Center. "Game Center and OpenFeint co-existence [will be] seamless for developers who choose to use Game Center," the company said in a May statement.
