With the release of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl yesterday appearing to have already been an unprecedented success, with claims online of sales already exceeding two million units, this week’s Japanese game sales charts, which do not yet include the title, appear dull by comparison. No title sold over the 100,000 unit threshold expected of a number one title, although Sony’s tennis spin-off from the Everybody’s Golf/Hot Shots Golf series continued to perform well - Everybody's Tennis for the PlayStation 2 topped the chart. The highest new entry was mini-game based anime license Gintama from Bandai Namco for DS at number four, with the latest entry in the long running Harukanaru Jikuu series of Koei's PS2 role-playing games/interactive novels coming in at only number ten. Hardware sales saw the Nintendo DS up by around 5,000 units to 140,151. The PlayStation 2 was down slightly at 32,673, but still ahead of the PSP, which fell further this week to just 23,118 units sold. The Game Boy Advance family of consoles sold 3,351 units, while the Xbox 360 and GameCube rose slightly to 1,109 and 763 units, respectively.
