Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Key Nintendo title Wii Music showed brisk, if not lightning fast debut in Japan, entering straight in at number one with 92,000 copies sold. Elsewhere, there's not a single Xbox 360 or PS3 title in the Top 30 - countdown within.
Key Nintendo title Wii Music has enjoyed a relatively brisk, if not gigantic start in Japan, entering straight in at number one, but with less than 100,000 unit sales. This is not necessarily unexpected though, thanks to the steady selling of Wii games, with Wii Fit not even reaching the top spot in its first week - albeit at a busier time of year for the market. Although Wii Music is expected to show considerable longevity over the coming months, other Nintendo titles are already doing so, with Pokemon Platinum still at number two with now over 1.75 million sales. At number four, what is to be known in the West as Rhythm Heaven passed the 1 million mark, a considerable achievement given that the first title on the Game Boy Advance managed less than a quarter of those sales. Another title greatly exceeding the sales of its predecessor is Sony’s Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida Or 2 at number three, with 59,900 unit sales. The original only debuted at number 45 last year, but the quirky title (similar in concept, if not execution, to Bullfrog’s Dungeon Keeper series), has slowly built a considerable fanbase in the intervening months. The third-highest entry of the week is the first Nintendo DS version of board game series Culdcept at number five, with 50,000 unit sales. Also new at number six is yet another new Gundam title from Namco Bandai, this time based on the new Mobile Suit Gundam 00 anime series. Just missing out on a top 10 position, at number 11, is Daikaiju Battle: Ultra Coliseum on Wii from Namco Bandai - a fighting game featuring a number of Godzilla style giant monsters. The only other new entry of the week is also a Wii exclusive from Namco Bandai, with combat flight sim Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces from the Ace Combat team debuting at number 21. The top 30 this week is also notable for not featuring a single title for either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, although some titles may appear in the full top 50 when it is revealed tomorrow.
